Low-Carb Quiche Lorraine

It's time for a new low-carb quiche recipe! This time I made a low-carb version of the quiche lorraine. The quiche lorraine is a French classic and perhaps one of the most popular quiche dishes in the Netherlands.

A quiche lorraine is often made in the Netherlands with pie dough, eggs, cream, milk and bacon strips. We omitted the pie crust and replaced the cream and milk with crème frache and grated Gruyère cheese. As a result, a serving of this quiche lorraine contains only 3.3 grams of carbohydrates. In addition, the extra cheese and crème frache give the quiche a nice creamy and firm texture.

You really won't miss the savory pie crust with this nutritious quiche. Everyone in our house loved it! Tips: With this recipe you can make a delicious low-carb quiche lorraine for 4 people.

The quiche has a nice spicy taste and that goes well with a fresh side dish. We ate the quiche ourselves with a portion of arugula salad mix and sliced spring onion.

I hope you like it! For more inspiration, check out our other low-carb recipes.

Ingredients

5 eggs (M)

200 g crème frache

2 tbsp olive oil

1 onion 1 leek

200 gr bacon strips

100 gr grated Gruyere cheese

pinch of nutmeg

salt and pepper to taste

Optional: spring onion, sliced

Preparation method

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Then cut the onion and leek into small pieces. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan and fry the sliced leek and onion. Place the fried onion and leek in a bowl and clean the frying pan.

Now fry the bacon cubes in the frying pan until golden brown. After cooking, drain the bacon cubes on a sheet of kitchen paper. Then beat the eggs with the crème frache. Then add the grated Gruyere and season with the nutmeg, salt and pepper.

Grease a quiche mold with a little oil or butter. Then divide the fried bacon cubes, onion and leek over the quiche tin and pour the egg mixture over it.

Bake the quiche lorraine in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. After baking, divide the quiche into 4 portions and serve with sliced spring onion if desired. Enjoy your meal!
